I guess it's time to move on...

Enough with Mr. Clooney already, right? Well, not really, but there are other things in life. Give me a minute, I'll think of some......... hmmmm. Well, while I'm thinking have a look at a few cards I finished up recently.

This one was for a woman that works with my husband - she's leaving the company and moving away. I absolutely adore that paper but I can only find it in the DCWV Glitter Packs, and only 2 or 3 sheets are included. Not enough! If you know anywhere in the US I can find it open stock, please email me. I found it from a Canadian company but they wanted $12 to mail 20 sheets. Not in this lifetime.

Recipe: Flower - Ellison die, Sentiment - Inkadinkado, Rhinestones - Hero Arts , Rhinestone brad - Making Memories, Janome sewing machine (yes, I stitched on a card!)

I made this card for a cupcake swap - I love the colors together. I will be making more of these!

Recipe: Cupcake - Hero Arts, Polka dotted paper - Making Memories (I think) paper pad, SU photo corner punch, Ribbon - Hobby Lobby, CB Swiss Dots embossing folder, Copic markers, Marvy Scalloped Circle Punches, Rhinestones - Hero Arts , Stardust Stickles.

I finally got it to come together! This card took days, literally. I had it in my mind but could not make it come together on paper (or cardstock, either!). I am pretty happy with the way it turned out and may give that stamp another try one day.

Recipe: Main image - My Favorite Things, Paper - American Crafts, Copic markers, Bazzill flowers, 5 petal flower from a Bride's Flowers bucket and colored with Copics, Scallops cut with a Carl cutter scallop blade.

George Clooney - in person!!!

It was a day to remember for me. He is so adorable and such a nice guy, I had a wonderful time! I won't bore you with any more details, I know you came to see photos, so here you go:

Fun mail all the way from Oz!

Melanie rocks! She is one of my SBS6 sisters and I got a wonderful surprise from her in my mailbox today! First have a look at this gorgeous card she sent:

I'm an Idol!

I promise not to get the big head (well, maybe not too big anyway), but Mindy has been sweet enough to honor me as her American Papercrafting Idol this week and I am so flattered! Thank you so much, Mindy, you're a sweetie! It's funny, but I am always a little surprised when someone else thinks my work is wonderful. I'm not fishing for compliments, really and truly, and am very grateful that you think my stuff is cool - but it still surprises me :-) I was reading KellyBee's blog the other day about how she had an epiphany concerning her card making that really hit home with me. She basically said that she was wondering when her style was going to evolve to the heavily embellished and layered cards that many people are doing when she realized that her style was clean and simple and that was fine. I have often wondered the same thing and when I try to imitate those types of cards mine do not even vaguely resemble the original. I have my own style and while I love to see the embellishments and layers, it isn't something I am going to aspire to. I will accept that my card making and crafting is just fine the way it is and just admire those who are gifted in other areas. I don't need to compare myself to anyone to see if I measure up as long as I am happy with what I'm creating, and for the most part I am. I just don't post the ugly stuff :-)

Enough of that. For those of you within driving distance of Salisbury, NC I think you might need to know that George Clooney - yes, THE George Clooney! - will be there next Wednesday morning at 11am. Renee Zellweger will be there, too but it's Mr. Clooney that I am going to see! Their new movie, Leatherheads, is coming out next month and it was filmed in the area so he's on a promotional tour, I suppose. I will be there bright and early, I assure you. If I get any good photos I will be sure to share them with you.

Tag, I'm It!

I have been tagged by Jean over at It's In The Cards. I have to share six non-important things/habits/quirks about myself so here goes:

1. Procrastination is one of my worst habits. I will procrastinate on something for days and when I finally make myself do it, it only takes a few minutes. Crazy, I know. I am getting better about it though, I'm working on it.
2. I'm a bit of a neat freak. Not to the point of obsession but I find it hard to function in a messy environment.
3. I love Craig Ferguson (the Late, Late Show) - I think he is hilarious and adorable!
4. Apostrophes where they do not belong make me crazy! No ' in CDs, VCRs, TVs - plurals do not require one. For instance, "The CD's cover is missing", that would be correct. To say "I have over 5000 CDs" - NO apostrophe! OK, I'll get down off my soapbox now and I apologize if I offended anyone.
5. I have a pen addiction, I love to collect them - especially ones that write in colors.
6. I'm a nerd/geek - I love computers, I am capable of building one if I need to, and have been online since 1994 when we didn't even have a browser! Ah, the olden days!

No such thing as too many flowers

This card is a flat out CASE of this card on Stamping Therapy. I used different colors and didn't stitch on the card but the design is the same. I do like hers much better, though. I need some practice with the scissors. The flowers are from an SU SAB set - Friendship Blooms (I think that's the name of it) and the "friend" may be from the same set.

This card is a pretty close CASE of this card on Popsicle Toes Card Creations. I colored the flowers with Brilliance inks using a QTip and I think it turned out rather well! I used shimmery Stardreams cardstock in the CB folder. The verse stamp is Hero Arts and the flower is a Martha Stewart punch. The leaves behind it are felt, from Creative Imaginations, I think. I open them all when I get them and then I can't remember which is which!

Same technique, different folders. The white flowers are from that Bride's Flowers bucket. They are so shimmery and match the Stardreams paper very well. I think the Celebrate card is colored with Pebbles Shimmer Chalks and those three tiny flowers are Hero Arts bling.

Allison's cat card challenge

This is for Allison's cat card challenge. I love Fluffles - he is just so adorable! He can be a little difficult to color sometimes but I use Prismacolor pencils on this one and it looks pretty good, I think! The sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp.

New Shared Items

No card today, sorry. I had to make a sympathy card last night but didn't have time to get a photo. Anyway, be sure to check out my Shared Items on the left every few days because I add more as I come across them. Just today I added a tutorial from Tracy on how to stamp a mirror image, a video from Craft Critique on the ATG gun which includes how to reload the tape (not an easy thing to figure out sometimes) and an awesome tutorial from Melanie on making a wonderful little paper tote - you have got to see this one! Blog Yummies

My hit counter has gone past 2000, I can't believe it! Thank you all for taking the time to visit and to leave kind words, I truly appreciate it. I enjoy posting on this blog and it is so nice to read comments and know that someone else is enjoying it as well. Feedback is nice :-) I am not the best blog commenter by any means and sometimes I feel like a dork for just saying "Beautiful cards" or "I love that card" time and time again, but it really does make me smile when I read your comments, no matter how brief. That being said, I will try to do better my own self and leave comments more often, too!

I have been meaning to post blog yummies for a while but I needed some time to think about it because I wanted to do it a little differently. So what I have decided is not to have a mad scramble for everyone to leave a comment on a certain post. Instead, from time to time I will randomly, and totally unscientifically, choose a commenter to receive something fun. It won't be based on how many comments you have left or how flattering your comments were - it's really not a contest. I will just toss names into a hat and pull one out. So please leave either your blog address or your email address in your posts from now on. I can't put a party in your mailbox if I can't get in touch with you!

A couple of cards and some enabling

I did manage to make a couple of cards, same design different colors. Yes, I suppose that's my thing - find a design I like and wear it out! I just adore this little cupcake stamp, though, and it looked so yummy with the chocolate icing I couldn't help but make another!

The stamp is from Great Impressions and I used my new Swiss Dot CB embossing folder - I love that thing! I colored the image with Copic markers and added Stardust Stickles for the sprinkles on the icing and a little to the candle, too. The little flowers are from Hero Arts, the paper is American Crafts.

Now for some enabling. I can't take all of the credit, thought, because I saw these buckets of flowers on Lauren's blog and again on Misti's blog - who can resist after seeing them twice??? Obviously not me. There are a whole bunch of flowers in these cans for $4.99 AND I used the 40% (Michaels) online coupon, so I did good. They were on an end cap in the bridal department. I was all prepared for an argument with the cashier but she took the coupon without a problem - I was amazed.

While I was there I also found these goodies, too

The gems are in the jewelry department with the rhinestones and I apologize for being such a dork and not taking a photo of them in their original packaging. They are not self adhesive but could be attached with either glue dots or Glossy Accents, and probably even with the Quickie Glue Pen. This is only a portion of what was in the bag, there are bunches and in shapes that I have not seen in the self adhesive ones. The flowers were on clearance for $1.00 and again, this is only a portion of the package contents. They are silk and are made by Darice - aren't they just gorgeous? They have other colors as well but they weren't on sale - yet.

I found these at AC Moore in the bridal section - 180 pieces in a box for $5.99, what a deal!! They are silk, too, and you would pay way more than that for that many Primas, that's for sure!
