Get Well

A friend of mine, Shirley (Card Art, Etc.), was a bit under the weather so I made a card for her. I don't do many get well cards and don't have too many "Get Well" sentiment stamps but I did find a cute little one over at A Stamp Artist Place. Of course, I have thrown away the packaging, so I don't remember who makes it, but it might be BoBunny. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

As usual, I made 2 of them, just a little different from one another, to have on hand.

There was a card sketch on someone's blog - don't remember whose, though, sorry - and since I rarely do the sketches I thought I'd give this one a try.

Enjoy!

Another Sunflower

DH asked me to make a card for a co-worker that is leaving the company and this is what I came up with -

june08-062

Alot like the other ones that I made with this same stamp, but I added some ladybugs and ribbon to this one. The ladybugs are embellished with Glossy Accents, which is what I was waiting on to dry before I posted it. With my luck, if I had tried to take a photo before it dried it would have fallen flat on its pretty little face and then I would have said bad words. But it's all good and I like the way it turned out. The ladybugs are from a little $1 clear set from Michaels. Some of those sets have some neat little stamps in them! For only $1 I find them hard to pass up, don't you?

Party on, people.

Tiers of Treats

Surprise!! A couple of cards with...yes, cupcakes! I made another sample for Stamper's Alley and had to make a couple to keep on hand, of course. The stamp is by Stampendous, and it's colored with Copic markers and although you probably can't see it I used Spica Glitter Pens as well.

june08-061

Any suggestions for other color combinations other than pink, brown and yellow? I tried making the cupcake bottoms blue but I didn't like it. Purple or lavender is nice, but not necessarily for the icing.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a wonderful day.

Better than a card

Well, almost :-) A Michaels coupon for 50% off of one item - woohoo! I just got it in my email and had to pass it along:

Enjoy!

Last of the MOW cards...

Summer Solstice Shopping Spree

Say that three times fast! Yesterday was Summer Solstice, the first day of summer, and the longest day of the year. Well, it still only contained 24 hours but more of those 24 were daylight hours than any other day :-). DH (he loves it when I call him that) decided we needed a day out of town so we drove over to Asheville for the day. He took me to A Stamp Artist Place and it was so good to see Maryella, it's been way too long!  Her shop is wonderful, she has lots of samples everywhere, ribbon, stamps, paper, flowers....I got lots of goodies. Then we went to lunch at the Mellow Mushroom! They have the best calzone, and there isn't a Mellow Mushroom over here, so of course we had to go there.  We did a little reminiscing around Asheville and headed back, but before we left I wanted to go to Michaels and AC Moore, just to see if they had different stuff than our stores. They did! I found a Martha Stewart EK Success punch that I haven't seen at Michaels here in a long time as well as the Prima flowers in tins that ours is always out of. I know, I have too many flowers already. I don't care - these were too beautiful to pass up.

At AC Moore I also found the most adorable...

june08-020

Yes, a CUPCAKE punch!!! It's by EK Success and is the size of the Whale of a Punch. Isn't it too cute??? Here are the rest of the goodies...

And for those of you who think my workspace is always neat and tidy -

june08-021

It is a MESS! I have been making the MOW cards and need to clean it up some before I can make any more. I don't work well in a messy environment - I just can't focus. So, I will get to that in a while and hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!

More MOW Cards

MOW= Meals on Wheels. I am on a roll with these cards. I haven't made much for months and now I can't stop! I just thought I'd use up some of the stuff I have been accumulating and make good use of it. There is not a lot of stamping on these cards at all, it's mostly patterned paper and flowers, with a few punches thrown in for good measure.

Don't ask where I got the paper because I have no idea. I love that blue, purple and green flower on the last card and don't know where it came from either, but I only had 2 of them. It's silk, so I doubt that it's a Prima flower. The lacy scallop punch is...*sigh*...a Martha Stewart EK Success punch.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend! We are hoping for some rain here today, we sure do need it.

What is the world coming to?

Four posts in one week - wow! Don't get too comfortable, it probably won't happen again any time soon.

These are a few cards that I made for the local Meals on Wheels program. Brenda (Stamper's Alley) takes them up there every month and they tell us that the people really enjoy receiving them. I have been lazy about making any cards for them for a while now and I decided it was time to get back on track and quit hoarding so much stuff.

june08-006

They are all the same simple design, I just used different colors and different background stamps Cornish Heritage Farms Tiled Scallops and Tri Dots, and Papertrey Polka Dot basics. I did use the new Fiskars Lacy Days of Summer border punch and the same stamp on each one.The flowers are Primas and Imaginisce and I thought they added just the right touch. These were so easy and quick to make and I hope they will brighten someone's day a little bit.

If any of you Stamper's Alley customers are reading this, I am throwing down the gauntlet! Get out your stamps and ink and make a few cards for the Meals on Wheels people. Participation was very good when the program first started but has slacked off, I'm afraid. I am guilty of being a slacker, too, but I am going to do my best to keep on contributing on a more regular basis. We also collect cards for the troops overseas and I know those soldiers would be happy to receive something from home. I will get some done for them soon, too. They are both worthy causes, and I am glad to be able to give something, however small, that might bring a smile to someone's face.

Birthday Cupcakes

I love cupcakes (surprised?) and I love this Stampendous cupcake tier stamp! A friend of mine had a birthday this week and this was the perfect opportunity to ink this baby up! As you can see I have both the wood mounted and the acrylic version of the stamp - had to have them both. Hey, they are different sizes and you just never know when you need a smaller (or larger) size for a particular card. You fellow addicts stampers out there know what I'm talking about, don't pretend you don't - I see you nodding in agreement.

cupcaketier

They are colored with Copics and blinged (is that a word?) up with Stickles and some iridescent fabric flowers from Creative Impressions. The scallop is a Nestabilities die. I will be making more of these! How about suggestions for other color combinations - anyone?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Sunflowers

Just a quick post with a couple of cards I made with my new Stampendous clear set. These will probably go to the Meals on Wheels program and I made another for Stamper's Alley to have as a sample.
june08
The sunflowers and leaves are colored with Copic markers (of course!) as are the "Skittles" on the card on the left. I think the paper with the multi-colored stripes is American Crafts and the yellow and white striped paper is Memory Box Kitchen Curtain. I used yellow Stickles on scalloped circles cut in half for the centers of the flowers. The scalloped circle punch is by EK Success. They also have a larger one, and I have seen other sizes of the ovals, too.
Enjoy!

Rocky Mountain High...

No, not the card, my son...Geoffrey. He just moved to Denver to take a wonderful new job and this is the card I sent to him to let him know (one more time) how proud I am of him for undertaking such an adventurous move. He rented a house online, arranged all of the crap stuff that goes along with moving, and drove a U Haul with two cats and all of his worldly possessions from Tampa to Denver all by himself. How cool is that?? He is a web programmer, totally self taught, doing very well for himself these days and I am thrilled (did I mention proud??) ! He has always lived in apartments, but now he is in his first house so I thought this would be an appropriate card to send. Hard to believe that he is 25 AND halfway across the country now. Seems like just yesterday....ah, time flies, doesn't it?

geoffrey

It's not too girly, is it? I tried to keep it as un-foofy as possible. It is almost a total copy of one from the Hero Arts site and for some reason took me forEVER to get the roof right. Such a simple thing - or so it would seem.

I will be back soon with some more cards so please check back. And feel free to leave a comment and let me know you were here. All you have to do is click on Comments - it's easy :-)

Have a great week!

New Version of Firefox Browser

I use the Firefox browser exclusively and really love it. IE7 annoys me by taking up too much room at the top, not allowing customization of the toolbar as in previous versions, and in many other ways. Anyway, tomorrow there will be a new version of the Firefox browser available and they trying to set a new record - go here to help:

Another cool blog

Totally NSR (not stamping related) but for those of us who love to take pictures and are still learning PhotoShop, a very informative site indeed. It's another Pioneer Woman site and I found it very interesting, so here you go - Pioneer Woman Photography. I have also added it to my blogroll on the right. Enjoy!

I Like Markers!

I have just discovered a blog that has a TON of good information about Copic markers and it is called, funnily enough, I Like Markers! Go figure. If you love Copic markers and are a little confused as to how to use them to get the most out of them, you really need to check out this blog. She is also offering up some yummy blog candy, too - so why are you still here - GO!
